Dawn Scott of Brighton University and her students have been learning about the badgers in the Maves area. The main finding is that they lay dangerous heffalump-traps for the unwary, and take no prisoners, as they move between their setts and their foraging sites - often quite far afield.
Here are some surveying students, but here also is the scary moment when our consultant ecologist Jackie fell into the heffalump trap. Dawn herself has a broken ankle - nothing to do with badgers of course - and we wish her speedy recovery.
